  • 1969, tear-gassed by Reagan.
  • 1970, move to Buffalo.
  • 4th Grade: wisely choose to learn clarinet instead of trombone.
  • 5th Grade: Moved to Albuquerque for a year, where the sunsets were red and pink and orange.
  • 1979: Moved back to Buffalo, into 100 Eagle Street.
  • Made the terrible mistake of switching from clarinet to oboe.
  • Walked to school AND carried my lunch.
  • Moved to South Ellicott Street, took piano lessons so I could be in a ROCK BAND.
  • Discovered I liked piano more than trombone, oboe, OR clarinet.
  • 9th Grade: High school, bad influences, the birth of the band "Crumbs of Insanity".
  • 1986: Finish high school, start at the University of Buffalo.
  • 1988: Spend three semesters at Oswego College.
  • Then return to UB, get BA in Music.
  • Run sounds and lights for the band "Flash of Purple".
  • Help record, then join the gothy band "Coloratura".
  • 1992: Deb shows me an internet mailing list full of weirdos; against better judgement, I subscribe to "leri", on a snowy winters night where two roads diverged in a wood. Ok, it was August.
  • 1991: In a fit of inspired panic, start graduate school in Geography, at the University of Buffalo; thanks in no small part to an encouraging meeting with Babs Buttenfield.
  • Quit working with "Coloratura" AND "Flash of Purple" in order to spend more time with geography, cartography, and GIS.
  • 1993: Graduate with an MA in Geography; cartography and GIS. Flee the looming "real world" by moving to Denver without a clue.
  • After a crazy year that seemed like twenty, stability began to set in, and I got a real job after all.
  • Also got an actual computer; one of the new super-powerful ones with 8 megabytes of RAM and over 500 megabytes of hard disk storage. Unthinkable. Began to make computer music again.
  • 1995: Released an album of computer music called "Perplexions", on cassettes. Few people got one, and I don't think I have any myself. There are several hundred in a box somewhere in Denver, I suspect.
  • 1996: Moved to New York City and, after a few months, into the loft at Nexus Dumbo.
  • 1997: Released another album of computer music, "Disconnect", on CD-R discs. Offered to mail it to anyone wanting a copy. Sent out over a hundred to every continent (Ok, I didn't mail one to Antarctica, but a copy went there with a friend and with Helpless the Bunny).
  • The Antarctica friend told me about, and enabled me to attend Burningman 1997, where I discovered I was not an alien after all.
  • New Years Eve 97-98 in Port Townsend near Seattle. Aliens.
  • 1998: Dumbo begins to be home; Burningman 1998 surpasses all possibilities; year end at Tybee, with aliens and many sorts, including a notfrog.
  • 1999: Changes and turmoil, but at least my employment situation reaches a pinnacle of perfection.
  • 2000: The All-New-Dumbo is wonderful, and then the New-All-New-Dumbo is also wonderful. Lots of music made, "Aeute" and "Nihil", fodder for "Duckapus".
  • Then the bubble bursts, jobs are lost, and T and I move to Seattle.
  • The music album "Duckapus" is released, as an honest CD.
  • Get a GIS Certificate from the University of Washington, hoping it will help me get one of those "real jobs".
  • Get a real job, doing GIS for Pierce County.
  • After becoming jaded and cynical about it, attend Burningman 2002, the joy of which cannot be put into words.
